Data and calculation methodology

How source dates, dataset changes, calculator assumptions and correction evidence are handled on Find Bank Codes.

Sources and publication dates

We identify the source, its available publication date and coverage limits beside restored reference datasets. A retrieval date records when a file was obtained; it is not evidence that every entry was verified that day. Where an older directory has no verified update date, we label that uncertainty.

Updates and observed changes

The freshness dashboard distinguishes automatic refresh, file monitoring and manual review. Failed downloads retain the saved reference. Large changes are held for inspection. The change log reports differences observed between snapshots, not a complete history of bank events. A removed row does not by itself prove closure, and replacement codes are not inferred.

Corrections

Corrections require supporting public source evidence and human review. A submission receipt acknowledges storage only. Confirmed reports still require a separate dataset edit and verification. We do not publish the reporter's personal details.

Calculator methods

Each calculator states its formula, timing, scope and assumptions. Calculations run in your browser. Hypothetical growth, inflation and future rates are not forecasts or guaranteed returns. Statutory tools state the applicable scope and should be checked against the responsible authority before decisions.

Independence and reuse

Find Bank Codes is not a bank, payment network or government service. Source attribution does not imply endorsement. The public API is limited to datasets with identified reuse terms. See licences and attribution for dataset-specific conditions.
